State of Local Emergency, Evacuation Order & Alerts

The FVRD has extended the State of Local Emergency (SOLE) declaration for an additional fourteen days. The SOLE now applies to a reduced area, spanning west from Allison Pool to the western boundary of Electoral Area E. This extension supports the prompt coordination of action or special regulation of persons or property to protect the health, safety, or well-being of persons or the safety of property, objects, or sites of heritage value.

The Evacuation ORDER that was issued on December 19th for two properties on Chilliwack Lake Road remains in effect due to a landslide hazard posing an imminent life-safety risk. Slope instability concerns are limited to these two properties. Evacuation ORDER - 49269 and 49279 Chilliwack Lake Road [PDF - 1 MB]

The Evacuation Alerts for Electoral Area E - Wilson Road Area and Electoral Area E - Sheldon Road Area have been rescinded.

The threat of flooding from the December Atmospheric River event has substantially subsided. We continue to monitor the elevated risk of landslides due to soil saturation from this event. The risk of landslides and debris flows remains very high in the Chilliwack River Valley.

More information about the risks of landslides can be found here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/emergency-management/preparedbc/know-your-hazards/landslides

Emergency Incident Updates

Below you’ll find key information about incidents where we have held a coordination role. Many incidents occur that do not rise to the level of impending threat to life and property. There are a number of active wildfires across the landscape in the FVRD electoral areas. Wildfires are a natural part of the environment and in most cases do not pose threat to people or property. When they do create risk to communities and properties, FVRD is notified by the BC Wildfire Service in partnership with the Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness.
