Important New Requirements

Starting March 8, 2024, the 2024 Building and Plumbing Codes will be in effect, bringing several changes for new construction and alterations. Read our Bulletin for more information or visit the Province's Building Codes and Standards webpage.

Building Permits

Building Permits ensure that all buildings comply with the safety, health, building and zoning requirements of the FVRD's Building Bylaw and the BC 2018 Building Code.

A Building Permit must be obtained before starting activities such as:

• New Construction
• Alterations
• Reconstruction
• Demolition
• Removal, relocation or change of occupancy of any building or structure including excavation or other work related to construction
