Cannabis Regulations Update

January 27, 2021

The Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD) is updating its regulations for cannabis production and processing in the electoral areas.

On February 1 we are launching a survey to collect community feedback that will inform the regulations to enable cannabis production and processing in Electoral Areas A, B, C, E, and G.

In October 2019, the FVRD adopted a Land Use Policy for Cannabis Production, Processing and Retail Sales in the Electoral Areas. The implementation of this policy is taking place in two phases. The first phase, completed in March 2020, restricted cannabis production in Electoral Areas D, F and H.

“In phase 2 we are asking for community feedback to help guide where, and what type of cannabis land uses will be permitted,” said Bill Dickey, Chair of the Electoral Area Services Committee. “This is a great opportunity for residents to influence policies and ensure there are minimal impacts in your community.”

Some of the key questions posed in the survey will include: Which zones are appropriate for cannabis land uses? What are the regulations for micro vs standard cultivation? What are the maximum size limits for production areas?
