How to Compost at Chaumox Landfill
On Thursday, March 6, 2025 the designated composting area is set to open at Chaumox Landfill. This project was made possible through funding from the CleanBC Organics Infrastructure and Collection Program (OICP).
Did you know that roughly 30% of household “waste” can actually be composted? Composting returns valuable nutrients to the soil, replaces the need for commercial fertilizer, and helps save water by improving soil, retaining water and reducing evaporation.
When we throw out food waste, we are also wasting all of the resouces that it took to grow that food in the first place. Let’s compost instead!
Read our Composting at Chaumox Landfill How-to Guide to learn what to include and what not to include in compost.
